BRAAAAAAINS!!! (Now with Video)

Okay so this Saturday was suppose to be a nice quite Saturday at the Del Mar Fair because I have to work Sunday.

By 11:30 Saturday morning, all of our plans changed. Why? Because on Friday night I found that someone was organizing a Zombie Walk at Balboa Park for Saturday night (A huge THANK YOU to Brandan for sending a bulletin out) . If you have no idea what a Zombie Walk is, click on the Wiki link.

So most of that morning and part of the afternoon, the Mister and I drove to Buffalo's Breath and to AMVETS Thrift Store and got our themed zombie costume together. Then we spent the rest of the time at Brandan's house getting the costume and makeup ready for the walk. The results? See for yourself.

Happily Undead After! This is just a photo of us. You can see the rest of the photos here.

The turn out was so amazing in numbers that it even surprised the organizer of the event. I think there was a good 35-45 people there. Members of the press where there including the San Diego Union-Tribune. And they have VIDEO of us moaning and shuffling around the park. And all the on lookers that were suprised to see us took pictures and video of all of us. Don't be surprised if you see us on YouTube. At one point as I pasted by this lady who was on her cell phone she was overheard her saying, "I just got here to the park looking for the party and a bunch of zombies just past me!"

As for our costumes and make-up, its all Do It Yourself. I woke up this morning determined to have a theme for our costumes and the whole zombie bride and groom hit me as we were getting ready to go out and buy the make up. Originally we were just gonna go as regular zombies till the idea of getting a wedding dress at a thrift store hit me like a train. Everything you see on us clothing wise we picked up at AMVETS and it fitted us perfectly. The tux the Mister is wearing was in excellent condition, fitted him perfectly and was stupid cheap. It was kinda bad that we had to ruin it but its going for a good purpose. The wedding dress is a size 14, 2 sizes too big but with a few pins it worked out fine. It came with a veil as well as the headpiece. All we did was tear it up and add the blood. Since the clothing was in such good condition and we took care on how we shredded it, we can totally use the outfits again. The make-up was from a ghoul kit we got a Buffalo's Breath and we applied it ourselves. The wounds we made ourselves using liquid latex and face paint included in the kit. We spent a total of $80 for both of our costumes for everything.

The next Zombie Walk is going to be on that Friday afternoon of Comic Con. They are trying to plan it so that it coincides with George A. Romero's presentation and Felixx and I are going to try to make it to that.

I had a total blast and can't wait to do this again. I want to see what kind of pictures and story the media have now. So keep your eyes peeled on the SD Union Tribune for us!
