MIA for a reason...

Yeah its been nearly ten days since I updated, I know. Like you really care to read my crap anyways =P

So for the last seven day's Felixx's mother, Patty, has been visiting us here in sunny Miami, Florida. They haven't seen each other in over 13 years and it was about damn time. So in the last seven days I have driven more that I ever have on a regular basis. Fuck, I have seen more of South Florida than I do in a month. And of course there are tons of photos and loads of stories. Because there was so much, I am just going to give the short outline version. If you want details feel free to find out from me. More photos will follow once Felixx get done with them.
  • While having dinner at Emeril's on the night of Felixx's mom arrive to Miami, we met Shaquille O'Neil (that is Felixx in the lower corner) and Emeril Lagasse. Felixx got Shaq to sign the back of a menu and Emeril to sign one of his cookbooks.
  • Places that we took Patty: Friday Night Vamp, Vizcaya, Hard Rock Seminole Casino, picnic BBQ at North Beach, Cocowalk, and just about every touristy thing there is.
  • Movies, movies, and more movies (at home and at the theater).
  • Having Dim Sum with Octavio and his wife and Trinity (well, I had Dim Sum and they ate regular pseudo-chinese food but it was till good).
Of course there was a lot of bonding time between Felixx and Patty and I was glad for that. I made it so that they had lots of time together and were able to catch up a bit. But I also got a chance to share some time with her as well and she is a great lady. She and I really connected and we shared some great stories about Felixx. She got to know me as person and she understands where I was coming from. To me it seems that she and I are really not too different as people. She a very straight forward woman with a bit of tenaciousness and is very resilient. Most of all, she didn't feel like a mom or the potential mom-in-law. You know the kind monsters that people worry about meeting: overbearing or bossy or judgemental. Luckily for me she's not one bit. So not only did Felixx get to connect with her but I did as well.

Even our cats loved her, mostly Kaiser. He would actually wait by the door for her when she would go out to go smoke. He never does anything like that for either one of us when we got out to do stuff. And you can always tell how a person is by the way a cat acts around you.

Speaking of Kaiser, he is doing ultra well adjusted. Its been officially been a month since he has been with us and he is just a freaking adorable eating, shitting, love machine. Batt has taken to him on her terms and they get along really well (I've even caught them licking each other on the nose, kissing in otherwords). Shit, I still need to put up pictures of him don't I? But yeah, I am in love with the new cat now and I am so glad he is working out so well.

More later...
