Hello my name is Carol and I am an Audiophile

Or should I say an iPod Addict?

Less than a year ago my music listening was basically restricted to what was being played on the Clear Channel Radio or what I can find on Pandora or WebDJ or whatever cd I collected at random or of my favorite bands. And the listening times on lasted about two to three hours. Now, its basically my work life about 8 to 10 hours of my day. Now less than a year ago I would have laughed at you if you asked me if I owned an iPod. Now I own two, a shuffle and a nano. One is for running and the other for everything else.

All because of the job I work at now.

What I do now for a living is pretty repeaticious and monotonous. Day after day the hours seem to go on and on without end and an hour seems like infinity. When I first got my shuffle and loaded my first playlist, the day just went by faster than I can blink. Now with about 400 songs at my disposal my work is like nothing to me. When I put on my earbuds, I go on happy autopilot. And if I accidently happen to leave my iPod at home, it's an automatic BAD effing DAY for Carol. It's a dependency that I am happy to have and continue to have. But something else happened.

I rediscovered my love for music.

I realize more and more everyday that I don't just listen to anything. I've started to get specific and its dictated by the day I am having. And moods start colliding with the style of music. Sometimes I find that my music choices shape my mood and vice versa. I also find myself searching for new and interesting music on the web. Hell, I would say I crave for new music. Looking at amazon's recommendation lists, iTunes recommendations and music associated lists. Now when I get home, I search for music. And when I listen to a new potential addition to my collection I listen with an extremely open mind and eager ears. And sometimes my memory gets jogged and I go find old songs from the old days.

When was the last time you heard Pet Shop Boys' West End Girls? Or The Fugees' version of Killing Me Softly?

It's been a while, hasn't it?

PS. Now listening to I Am Where It Takes Me by Black Light Burns
