A nice encouragement after a really rough start...

This is work related so it may bore you. You have been forwarned.

So this week started out with a vistor from the main corporate office and he apparently comes every quarter to do a facility wide meeting and to do some inspection of the department. Apparently some good things were said about me from my supervisor to this head honcho. He introduced himself and told me how impressed he was with my good work even though I had just started.

Inside that made me smile. Just a bit.

At the end of his facility wide meeting he left room for the two department supervisors to give recognition. My boss at first thanked the whole TGS department for their hard work and then she specifically zoned in on me that it completely took me by surprise. She thanked me for working so hard on the special projects that was given to me and pointed out the extra things that I have done since coming on board at CRL.

That made me smile a just bit more on the inside. But it apparently pissed off a one if not two persons. I was told later that one of the veterans of the facility complained to so someone about "how its the new person that gets all the recognition" and how pissed he was that I got recognized and that veterans like them didn't.

Then today I got another boost. My supervisor spoke to me privately and asked me if I wanted the opportunity to be the facility wide Veterinary Technician and I totally jumped on it. When I first interview for the position I am in now I told them that is going to be my field of study next year when I start school for that. And Rod-O (the person who initially interviewed me and is one of my supervisors) said that my study would work out well because the person that was the Vet Tech has now transfered to records department and she would eventually have to be replaced.

Well it seems that they will be replacing her with me very soon. And the reasons motivating the replacement was fueled to day by interesting actions from certain people. I won't go into much detail but lets just say I have heard some interesting shit from my boss about two people at my work that are supposedly the veterans of the facility. And apparently these people are walking on thin ice based on all they negative shit that they have talked and all the things that they have done and not done to displease the wrong people. Now that I know who these people are and that they have said some bad things behind my back, I know how to treat them at work.

They will get the respect that is deserve to them as a co-worked but that is about it.

I can't wait to see the look on this one particular veteran's face when she finds out that she is no longer the vet tech and I am going to be taking the position. She is gonna be pissed and is going to be taking it personally. But she had this coming. She wanted to be off the facility floor and now she is going to be doing nothing but records, just like she wanted.

What does this mean for me? Hopefully more money, more of the things I want to do, and less isolator cleaning.

Let's see what happens.
