So one of my friends sent me this email:
"Hey hon, I have a question for you. Someone had send me this email entitled 'Considered yourself notified' and it had a bunch of crazy laws from around the world. This one caught my attention:
In Hong Kong, a betrayed wife is legally allowed to kill her adulterous husband, but may only do so with her bare hands. The husband's illicit lover, on the other hand, may be killed in any manner desired.
It made me think of you for some reason LOL! But I wanted to know if this is true in your country? Since you are from there, I figured you would know.
Get back to me,
Jax"
To be honest I really didn't know but I know someone who does. He's another old friend of my mother's back in Hong Kong and he was a practicing lawyer there. So I forwarded him the email and ask him if its true.
Here was his reply:
"Dearest Carol,
As rediculous as this law may seem, it is in fact a real law that is still in the books to this day though the cases using that law as of late is not very prevalent. When I left the practive 2 years ago, the law was still in effect and there was not a motion to change or alter it.
But at various points of my my 30 year career, I did have had the unpleasent task of representing 3 women who have used this law and won their freedom in doing so. To be honest with you, only one of those clients did I actually believe her story about her husband being unfaithful. The other two... well, I should feel very lucky that I was able to win the case or who knows what would have happened to me.
I do hope this is just an honest curiousity on your part. If you are still the way I remember you, you are a bit of a wicked prankster. If not, shame on you young lady!
Sincerely,
L. Bradley"
Interesting really.

:). you are a woman after my own heart. who would have thought that such a law truly existed.
heh.
<3 you know, there's a similarly ludicrous law on the books over there in Florida, you might have heard of it. It's the one that lets any Floridan who feels threatened in public to shoot and kill whoever pissed them off (that's more or less the gist of it). The Daily Show and Colbert Report (whose links are not working, goddamit) really ripped into it.
Crazy is crazy just about anywhere, eh?
