One of the most impressive modern films I have seen in a very long time. Shot in the exquist State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, the film is a splendid cinematic visual. It's absolutely breath taking in its shots of the museum as well as some of its treasures. 867 actors dressed in the most glorious period costumes and worked into the concept of the movie and of the museum flawlessly.
And the most amazing thing about this film: It was all shot in one take.
No, I am not kidding you. This movie has not cuts to scenes, edits, or jumps. The whole entire 1 hour and 36 minute film is all one fluid take. Utterly seemless and just down right ingenious.
I watched the entire movie with my mouth open and am utterly awed by it. Not only of the the location of the movie but the way it was shot.
I highly recommend this movie if you are into art and aesthetics. Brillance at its best.
Oh, and I recommend you check out that link for the museum. The virtual programs they have on the site to view the museum as well as the artifacts is just spectacular.
